چکیده

Abstract. High-fidelity and large-scale hydrological models are increasingly used to investigate the impacts of human activities climate change on water availability quality. However, detailed representations real-world systems processes contained in these inevitably lead prohibitively high execution times, ranging from minutes days. Such become computationally prohibitive or even infeasible when large iterative model simulations involved. In this study, we propose a generic two-level (i.e., watershed- subbasin-level) parallelization schema reduce run time expensive applications through combination spatial decomposition graph-parallel Pregel algorithm. Taking Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) as an example, implemented tool named GP-SWAT, enabling watershed-level subbasin-level Spark computer cluster. We then evaluated GP-SWAT two sets experiments demonstrate ability accelerate single different environments. each test set, was applied for parallel simulation four synthetic with input/output (I/O) burdens. The single-model results showed that can obtain 2.3–5.8-times speedup. For multiple parallelization, yielded remarkable speedup 8.34–27.03 times. both cases, ratios increased increasing computation burden. experimental indicate effectively solve high-computational-demand problems SWAT model. addition, scalable flexible tool, it be diverse environments, commodity running Microsoft Windows operating system cluster consisting number computational nodes. Moreover, is possible apply other subbasin-based acyclic domains alleviate I/O demands optimize performance.

SWAT: A Tool for Stress Testing Session-based Web Applications

Stress testing is essential for effective sizing, capacity planning, and service level management exercises. Unfortunately such testing can be a difficult and time-consuming process. In particular, for session-based Web applications, it is difficult to create synthetic workload traces that simultaneously satisfy inter-request dependencies and match the parameter values of many other attributes ...

Field_SWAT: A tool for mapping SWAT output to field boundaries

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) hydrological/water quality model divides a watershed into hydrological response units (HRUs) based on unique land cover, soil type, and slope. HRUs are a set of discontinuous land masses that are spatially located in the watershed but their responses are not tied to any particular field. Field_SWAT, a simple graphical user interface (GUI)-driven tool, w...

SWAT model calibration of a grid-based setup

The eco-hydrological model SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) is a useful tool to simulate the effects of catchment processes and water management practices on the water cycle. For each catchment some model parameters (e.g. ground water delay time, ground water level) remain constant and therefore are used as constant values; other parameters such as soil types or land use are spatially vari...

Runoff Simulation in the Upper Reaches of Heihe River Basin Based on the RIEMS–SWAT Model

In the distributed hydrological simulations for complex mountain areas, large amounts of meteorological input parameters with high spatial and temporal resolutions are necessary. However, the extreme scarcity and uneven distribution of the traditional meteorological observation stations in cold and arid regions of Northwest China makes it very difficult in meeting the requirements of hydrologic...
